Ian Vincent (Hon Secretary at CA) has recently written to Club Secretaries:
You will be sorry to hear that Liz Larsson, who has been the CA Manager since the post was created nearly ten years ago, is leaving at the end of February 2018. She has given loyal and dedicated service over a time of increasingly rapid change and will be sorely missed. As well as heading the office and shop at Cheltenham, she moved the online shop to its new website and has been responsible for editing the fixtures book for a number of years.
An advertisement for her successor has been posted on the CA Website at: https://www.croquet.org.uk/?p=press/news&NewsID=6180
It is also copied below:
The Croquet Association (CA), the National Governing Body for the sport, is seeking to appoint a CA Manager to head its office and shop, which is in Cheltenham and provides membership administration and support for the organisation.
As the successful candidate will need to work closely with officers of the Association, its Federations and Clubs, he/she would probably have a professional, graduate background. Knowledge of Croquet would be advantageous but not essential, as would good understanding of database systems. Above all, the candidate must have outstanding interpersonal skills, a cheery disposition, and the demeanour to command respect.
The position will be full-time, working mainly office hours but with some meetings at weekends.
Inquiries about the role should be made to Brian Shorney, Chairman of the CA Council, on 07583 671597.
The closing date for applications is 22nd January, 2018. They should be submitted by email to brian#shorney.net, with a paper copy to him at Cagebrook Mill, Clehonger, Hereford HR2 9TQ. Your covering letter (no more than two sides of A4) should set out the reasons for your application and the strengths underpinning your candidature; have attached an up-to-date and relevant CV; and include contact details of two referees.
