Croquet Coaching for You

YOU CAN BE A BETTER CROQUET PLAYER

Whether you play Golf Croquet or Association Croquet, no matter what your ability or skill level, there are coaching courses available to suit you.

The north west Federation of Croquet Clubs offers a unique coaching service called THE FLYING CIRCUS to any club who requests coaching.  All coaching is free, however, the provision of refreshments to our coaches is always appreciated.  We provide coaching expertise from across the region and sometimes from further afield, they zoom into your club and provide high quality tuition, leaving behind a rich repertoire of new skills – our Flying Circus of coaches can deliver coaching at all levels covering Golf or Association Croquet, from Beginners to Advanced and could be a bespoke course or a formal Bronze, Silver or Gold course as written by the CA.  The Federation Coaching Officer will arrange the coaches for you and may even suggest a combined event involving players from other clubs.  Club secretaries should discuss their club coaching requests with the Federation Coaching Officer, not only do you get a great opportunity to improve your play but it is free of charge and designed to your requirements!

Perhaps, you just require a short coaching period of one evening to address a specific croquet technique, then a CROQUET POD could be your answer. This concept was developed by the Croquet Association and aimed initially at A or B Class players – the Federation Coaching Officer has organised several Pods in the north west and is happy to accept individual players – just contact him! Again they are FREE courses!

Here is another idea, The Federation Coaching Officer runs weekly Coaching Clinics – individual tuition on any aspect or level of Croquet – every Monday evening at Fylde, Wednesday evenings at Pendle – just contact Paul Rigge.

Prefer a more intensive coaching course? Why not pay a visit to the NORTHERN CROQUET ACADEMY, it is based in York and offers high quality weekend courses. You can see their current programme and prices on-line, why not enjoy a weekend in the beautiful city of York and improve your Croquet as well!

So there we are, what more would you expect your Federation to provide?
What is stopping you?
Why not participate and improve your play and enjoyment of Croquet!

The Federation Website will announce any Coaching Opportunities as they are announced.

Croquet Coaching across the Federation

The north west Federation of Croquet Clubs offers coaching at all levels throughout the region to any club who requests such activities.  All coaching is free, however, the provision of refreshments to our coaches is always appreciated.  We provide coaching expertise from across the region and sometimes from further afield, they zoom into your club and provide high quality tuition, leaving behind a rich repertoire of new skills – our Flying Circus of coaches can deliver formal or bespoke events as requested.

In the first instance, Club secretaries should discuss their club coaching requests with the Federation Coaching Officer.  Requests can cover Golf or Association Croquet, from Beginners to Advanced and could also be formal Bronze, Silver or Gold courses as written by the CA.  Our Coaching Officer will arrange the coaches for you and may even suggest a combined event involving players from other clubs.

At the time of writing – all coaching requests should be directed to the Federation Secretary Paul Rigge.

Travel Costs for Coaches

Any club wishing to have coaching should contact the Coaching Officer who will agree if, when and where such coaching shall take place and whether or not any other clubs may be interested in involvement.  Coaches involved can reclaim the costs of fuel if they so desire by e-mailing a request for payment to the Treasurer, copied to the Coaching Officer.  Any coaching arrangements made independently of the Coaching Officer are between the coach and the club involved and will not attract Federation funding.

2013 – Flying Circus Coaching

The Way to Improve Standards of Play in your Club

A number of clubs have at least a Club Coach on their books who is able to deal with people new to the game. The Flying Circus is concerned more with players past this stage and will provide a coach, of the appropriate level of expertise and experience, to move your players on by coming to your club and running a full day course.  Please refer to near the back of the FIXTURES BOOK for the complete details of which level is required by your members – from ‘Improvers (with Handicaps 20-24 )–right through to Gold level– WE CAN DO IT!

The intention is to visit any club within the NW Federation during the 2013 season that requires tuition, or to put on a course at another club also requesting that level of course. In order to plan the programme we need to know the level required, the numbers involved and the dates when your members and lawns are available. We plan to publish the dates of courses on the NWFCC web site and make them open to all members of the Federation to attend. This will ensure that all players have the chance to attend a course of the level they require even if their own club is concentrating on a different standard of play. The Federation will fund the course and so there is no cost to the club (other than providing the coaches with lunch).
