Jumping in the Snow Croquet Style

31 December 2020 by Chris Alvey

“Oh the Courts outside are frightful
But the hoops and balls delightful
And since we’ve no place to go
We practice jump shots in the snow”

Playing Croquet at Pendle is always a pleasure but even more so when the Pennines have their annual covering of snow. Paul Rigge had fun knocking a few balls around and even did some interesting coaching on Jump Shots on the skippy slippy surface.

By the end of the day it was announced the area was to be placed in Tier 4 – restricting the Pendle croquet world to only two players per court for the foreseeable future.

Riggey in the snow – did it run?

December Edition of Croquet Gazette Available

22 December 2020 by Chris Alvey

What is the link between musician Roy Wood (I Wish it could be ChristmasEveryday) and Croquet?
Were you a member when the Editor of the Croquet Gazette exploded the calmness of the croquet world, obtained national notoriety and was then sacked?

These and much more are in your December edition of the Croquet Gazette which is freely available on-line to members – go to link here

There is also a feature on Howard Bowron from Penrith, plus news of tournaments, coaching, lawn care and much more.

P.S. The 2021 National One Ball Competition will be run in support of the British Heart Foundation. Why not run an event in your club – just for fun or as a formal part of the competition – players should wear something red, as this is the ‘house colour’ of the BHF.
