Supporting Players with Colour Blindness Difficulties

Croquet ClipsA surprisingly high number of players have difficulty in distinguishing between coloured balls and clips –  red, green and brown is the common difficulty.  The technical term is Colour Vision Deficiency (CVD) or Colour Blindness.  The CA now recommend:

(a) Brighter colours should be used when repainting clips and in particular, adding a white dot to green clips and diagonal white stripe to brown clips.

(b) It is now permissible to ask opponents about the colour and position of clips in a game.

(c) When using GC scoring clips use Yellow for a Red/Yellow side and only have one of green or brown in use when the Green/Brown side are playing.

(d) Team captains ands tournament managers should allocate 1st colour balls whenever possible to any player who has CVD.

The Federation Spring Club Meeting will take place at Culcheth on SATURDAY 5th MARCH at 10.oopm.  Please contact Liz Wilson if you wish to add any items to the Agenda.

Everyone is welcome.

Meetings usually last about two hours and lunches are available at this very welcoming social club.  Nice opportunity to meet up with everyone before the seasons battles begin.

Leonard Ainsworth, Fylde CC, R.I.P.

Leonard Ainsworth R.I.P.

Fylde Croquet Club sadly announce the passing of Leonard Ainsworth. Leo has been involved in croquet for over a quarter of a century, he was instrumental in the 2007 Longman Cup team success and has helped to secure a number of titles for the club.

A retired Industrial chemist and excellent chess player. Leo has one daughter, one son and two grandsons.  He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Leonard’s Funeral has been arranged for Thursday 17th December at 12 noon at Lytham Crematorium
There will be a wake afterwards at the Lindun Hotel, 63-67 South Promenade, Lytham Saint Annes FY8 1LZ
Family flowers only – donations to Trinity Hospice c/o Horsfield Funeral Directors
