Seven players (5 from Chester & 2 from Bowdon) attended a Club Coaches Training Course at Chester (organised by the Flying Circus) in order to gain their Club Coach qualification. The weather stayed fine enough for them to be coached by James Hawkins and Ken Cooper both on and off the lawns. On the second day they were set various tasks in which to coach each other while James & Ken adjudicated. This is the first step towards their qualification which must be followed by an on-site assessment at their own clubs in a month or two before they can be considered for their badge.

Flying Circus goes Silver at Bowdon (Ken Cooper 16/04/12)

17 April 2012 by Ken Cooper

Ken Cooper and Paul Rigge instructed a class of 15 players at the weekend from Bowdon,Chester, Fylde, Southport & Westmorland Croquet Clubs through the CA Silver Course with the use of lawn exercises and magnetic board instruction. The weather held fine and everyone enjoyed themselves; it is hoped that they will now use what they have learnt to improve their play… and beat the rest of us up!

Out of interest, the second image was taken after they were asked to stand where they thought the second ball on to the lawn should go after an A-Class player had sent his first ball into corner 4 at the start of a game and the high-bisquer had many bisques at his disposal.
