Pendle Fall to Watford in Murphy Shield Final at Nottingham

9 October 2017 by Libby Dixon

Pendle Fall to Watford in Murphy Shield Final at Nottingham, 3rd October 2017.

2017 Players in Murphy Shield at Nottingham

The Pendle and Craven team travelled down to Nottingham in good weather and did not experience any traffic hold ups unlike their opponents from Watford who took an hour longer than anticipated. The Pendle and Craven team comprised the same members that won against Hunstanton. Libby Dixon (2), Keith Terry (3), Paul Dowdall (3) and Will Drake (6).  Watford were led by Alan Clark (2) who was accompanied by John Smallbone (3), Arthur Reed (3) and George Skinner (4).

The mornings play saw Libby and Keith win over Alan and John in 2 straight games. Both singles went to 3 games with Paul winning his, but Will just losing out after 3 very close games. Therefore at lunch Pendle was in a good position with a 2/1 lead.

Unfortunately all the afternoons singles play were lost to Watford. The score line does not represent the fact that many games went to 7/6 but not Pendle’s way.

Final score: Pendle 2 Watford 5.  Congratulations to Watford.
