I am against asking visitors to bring their own lunch. I like to sit down to a communal meal however frugal it has to be. I don’t regard it as onerous if all home team members provide something e.g sandwiches or salad, cold meat/ pies/pizza, bread or potatoes and a light dessert or fruit. If I were having to travel a distance it would be some recompence to have such a meal provided for sharing. As has been pointed out, the home team provides the lunch to balance the cost of travel with the visitors. The following year it is reversed. It has been a tradition over the last 20years. Apparently it was not always so.
I would be interested to hear comments from others. I would not be against it being an option for teams but hate the idea of it being dictated.
